Les Petites Annonces is open
A free, local classifieds service, protected against fake accounts from abroad.

A lawnmower sitting unused in the garage, a cat that slipped out the night before, an apartment that becomes available in December: until now, these notices went on Facebook, LesPAC or a sheet of paper pinned to the grocery store bulletin board, and they were often lost.
Starting today, we are launching Les Petites Annonces, a free service exclusively for La Petite Nation.
Types of ads accepted
- Community: items to give away, lost and found, garage sales, volunteering, ride sharing and swaps.
- For sale
- Services
- Jobs
- Rentals, for periods of more than one month.
- Obituaries, as well as thank-you notices and anniversaries.
Vehicles, animals, weekly cottage rentals and houses for sale are not yet accepted.
Costs
The service is free. Each account can post up to 10 ads at a time, with no limit for community posts. An ad remains online for 60 days, and a single click is enough to extend it.
How it works
No password is required. You enter your email address, we send you a code, and you are signed in. You can then post your ad with a title, a price, a few photos and your municipality.
Interested people contact you through the site's messaging system, and your email address is never displayed. A garage sale includes a date and disappears the following day. If you are looking for a specific item, you can create an alert: you will receive at most one email per day, only when an ad matches your search.
Protection against fraud
Fake "buyers overseas" who offer to pay by wire transfer are well known. Several measures are in place to make their task more difficult:
- a questionable ad (a job that seems too good to be true, unusually low rent, a photo taken from elsewhere) is reviewed by a person before it is published;
- the messaging system displays a warning when a message resembles a known scam, and a new account cannot send links for 7 days;
- an account is required to report an ad, which prevents bots from submitting large numbers of reports;
- GPS location data is removed from photos before they are published.
The basic rule remains the same everywhere: never pay in advance. For a rental, visit it before paying. Our safety tips can help if you have any doubts.
Obituaries
Obituaries are posted by the family or by a verified funeral home. We review them before they go online, as well as the condolences. No address or full date of birth is displayed, out of respect for this private moment.
Posting an ad
You can post your first ad now. As the service is new, please do not hesitate to write to us at info@lapetitenation.ca if you encounter any difficulty. We are making adjustments as we go.
