Market
The One-of-a-Kind Experience
PapineauvilleOctober 10, 2026A market of 50-plus culture-minded vendors (makers, artists, authors, musicians) with workshops all day for kids and adults. Free entry.
Town · MRC de Papineau
The MRC's county seat, sitting right on the 75th meridian.

History here carries the Papineau name. Joseph Papineau bought the Petite-Nation seigneury, his son Denis-Benjamin led settlement from 1808, and Louis-Joseph inherited it. The village's first mayor, in 1896, was his grandson Henri Bourassa. The village and parish, split for 94 years, merged in 2000.
Today Papineauville is the seat of the MRC de Papineau, with the MRC offices, Louis-Joseph-Papineau high school and its 357-seat Salle Desjardins, elementary schools, daycares, a pool and several government service points. Rue Papineau is where you get groceries, lunch and a beer.
For visitors, the sundial park is worth the stop: it's built on the 75th meridian, the line that sets Eastern Standard Time. The public dock gives free access to Baie de la Pentecôte on the Ottawa River.
