Town · MRC de Papineau
A small farming valley, rocky hills, and the Black Mountains to the north.

The Saint-Sixte mission dates from 1855, the parish from 1885 and the chapel from 1886. The municipal side is messier: in 1893 it split from Lochaber township as Lochaber-Partie-Nord, and only became Saint-Sixte officially in 1979. The name likely comes from Sinsic, the Indigenous name of the river, gradually turned French. The chapel burned in July 2015 and the community built a new one.
People here live off the land and the woods. No main street: the farms are along the concessions, Route 317 crosses between Thurso and Ripon, and groceries mean a trip to Saint-André-Avellin.
What brings outsiders in: Camp SAJO in summer, traditional dance nights at the community centre, and the Louis-Joseph-Papineau trail all year.
