RiponOctober 10–11, 2026Ripon's harvest party: family activities around the village and a special market at the Place du Marché.
Town · MRC de Papineau
Organic farms, artists, a mass-timber plant and the Black Mountains.

Ripon was officially born on January 1, 1861, but squatters were already living along the Petite Nation River by about 1846, making potash and paddling it down to Papineauville to sell. The parish is still called Saint-Casimir de Ripon, and the village and township have been one municipality since 2000.
The mix is what makes Ripon interesting. There's lots of organic farming, enough artists and craftspeople to call it an arts community, and large-scale wood processing at the Element5 plant. ISFORT, the temperate-forest research institute tied to the Université du Québec en Outaouais, is based here too.
For everybody there's the Parc des Montagnes Noires: 24+ km of trails, a tower and a lookout at 426 metres where you can see Mont-Tremblant. Open year-round, free.
