The 18th Christmas Bird Count for Duhamel and the surrounding lakes takes place on Monday, December 14, 2026, over 24 hours. Volunteers are needed, beginners and experienced birders alike.
The count covers a circle 24 km in diameter around Duhamel, divided into 4 sectors. Volunteers are needed in each one. You can take part by car, at a given site, or by counting the birds at your feeders at home.
The count is organised locally by Daniel Perrier, with the Club des ornithologues de l’Outaouais and the Municipality of Duhamel. To take part and be assigned a sector, contact Daniel Perrier at 613-355-4995 or danolac7@gmail.com.
Created in 1900, the Christmas Bird Count is the oldest citizen-science project in North America. The data go to Birds Canada (Études d’Oiseaux Canada), associated with the Audubon Society.
